Lovisa Ringborg b. 1979
The frozen moment is loaded with life in Lovisa Ringborg's art. Working with photography, sculpture and video, Ringborg often turns to landscape and nature as a manifestation of something both familiar and unknown. A recurring theme in her work is the possibility of metamorphosis and its both seductive and uncanny quality. With an intuitive process, Ringborg explores a range of emotions associated with an ambiguous and dreamlike state of mind. For Lovisa Ringborg, our inner world and subconsciousness always work as a source of inspiration.
Lovisa Ringborg holds an MFA from the School of Photography at Gothenburg University. Ringborg's works have been presented at Fotografiska Stockholm, Norrköping Art Museum, Varbergs Konsthall, Skellefteå Konsthall, Alma Löv Museum, Vänersborgs Konsthall, Gotlands Museum, Hasselblad Center, Bonniers Konsthall, Passagen / Linköpings Konsthall, Kulturhuset in Stockholm as well as in exhibitions in Finland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, USA and South Korea. She was awarded the Edstrandska Foundation Scholarship in 2012 and the Victor Scholarship from the Hasselblad Foundation in 2010. Ringborg is represented in the collection of Moderna Museet, Norrköping Art Museum, Borås Art Museum, Hasselblad Foundation, Fries Museum, Leeuwarden, Holland, the Public Art Agency Sweden, Region Stockholm and Stockholm konst.
